Dr. Akbar Said Jan was Professor of Anesthesia at Hayatabad Medical Complex from 2002-2005 before settling into his current position at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre.

After finishing his basic medical education, Dr. Akbar Said Jan went to the United Kingdom and Ireland for his specialist training in different hospitals. Dr. Akbar Said Jan attained his Fellow of the Faculty of Anesthetists of the Royal College of Surgeons (FFARCS) in Ireland .Dr. Akbar Said Jan also holds a Diploma in Anesthesiology from Punjab University, for which he was awarded a Distinction.
